Throughout the pandemic, and the public health restrictions applied as a result, the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) mental health sector has had to ‘flip-the-script’ and work differently with its clients and communities, to ensure the continued provision of high quality, personalised care & support.

This panel session with a Q&A will consider the unique value VCSE provider sector brings to the design & delivery of mental health & well-being services, in the context of the reorganisation of the NHS in England signalled in the Health & Care bill & NHS England’s programme of community mental health transformation.

The panel:

  • Anna Barnes, Chair, Seaview
  • Raymond Sheehy, CEO, Bridge Support
  • Sarah Maguire, CEO, Choice Support
  • Mark Trewin, Head of Partnerships, Rethink Mental Illness
  • Rachel Peacock, CEO, Making Space-session chair

Panelists will set out why & how the VCSE sector’s expertise & knowledge must be hardwired into these changes a) if they are to meet the expectations for & promise of service improvements & outcomes they are prefaced on & b) to ensure better governance & accountability to people and communities in a restructured, integrated health and care system.
