The purpose of good governance is so that every organisation exists and operates for the public good. This podcast puts you in the middle of conversations with leaders on how organisations should be led and run.
Here at the Good Governance Institute, our mission is to help create a better, fairer world through good governance. Fairness has been a big talking point in public life lately and the theme of the Festival 2022: ‘good governance because fairer is better’.
We feel that fairness is at the heart of creating an ethical culture and that good governance is guided by principles rather than rules. This year brought into sharp focus the importance of the Nolan Principles of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership guiding public life. We would like to see fairness added to this list.
The Public Good podcast was set up to discuss how to make the world a better, fairer place with the people who hold positions of influence. This series will aim to educate people, particularly those who work in the public sector or are publicly accountable, about the standards they are held accountable to as laid out by the Nolan principles. We also want to build consensus around the idea of adding fairness to the list.
